Tsumami Zaiku is a traditional Japanese craft that uses small pieces of kimono fabric to create delicate flowers and decorative objects such as hair ornaments and pins (kanzashi), floral balls, amulets, gift boxes, and other beautiful decorations.

The word tsumami means “pinching,” referring to the technique of repeatedly pinching and folding small pieces of fabric to create intricate flower petals.

In this workshop, you’ll learn the basic techniques of Tsumami Zaiku and create beautiful fabric flowers that can be used as brooches, bookmarks, gift embellishments, festive decorations, and more. No prior experience is necessary (but participants must be 15 years of age and older).

Simple, relaxing, and fun, Tsumami Zaiku is a wonderful way to slow down, enjoy the creative process, and make something beautiful by hand in a warm and meditative environment.
